Madhuri "Madhu" Swarna competed with Rutgers Mock Trial for four years. She served on RUMTA's executive board for two years and captained the B-Team in 2013. Madhu is best known for her leadership, mastery of the rules of evidence, unwavering work ethic, and outstanding service to RUMTA. Her success extends far beyond her time in RUMTA. 

Madhu is currently a student at NYU School of Law. In the Summer of 2017, she interned with the ACLU's Capital Punishment Project (CPP). In the Winter of 2018, she co-led an alternative break trip to Atlanta, GA to work with the Georgia Capital Defender’s Office. She is currently in NYU Law’s Racial Justice Clinic, where she works with the ACLU’s Criminal Law Reform Project. She is also a student fellow with the Center for Race, Inequality, and the Law, Co-Chair of Alternative Breaks, and Vice President of the NYU Law Trial Advocacy Society. 

In the future, Madhu hopes to practice civil rights law with a focus on criminal and racial justice reform.
