Madhuri "Madhu" Swarna competed with Rutgers Mock Trial for four years. She served on RUMTA's executive board for two years and captained the B-Team in 2013. Madhu is best known for her leadership, mastery of the rules of evidence, unwavering work ethic, and outstanding service to RUMTA. Her success extends far beyond her time in RUMTA. 

After her time at Rutgers, Madhu graduated from the NYU School of Law with a myriad of accolades. In the Summer of 2017, she interned with the ACLU's Capital Punishment Project (CPP). In the Winter of 2018, she co-led an alternative break trip to Atlanta, GA to work with the Georgia Capital Defender’s Office. During her time in law school, Madhu worked in NYU Law’s Racial Justice Clinic, where she worked with the ACLU’s Criminal Law Reform Project. She was also a student fellow with the Center for Race, Inequality, and the Law, Co-Chair of Alternative Breaks, and Vice President of the NYU Law Trial Advocacy Society. 

In the future, Madhu hopes to practice civil rights law with a focus on criminal and racial justice reform.
